For a long gun weighing over 8lbs it is surprisingly lively, thanks to relatively ‘light for length’ barrels. My first go at a DTL was with a Miroku - I scored 16 out of 25 at the Detling gun club at the age of fifteen. For clays I have not found this a problem. I would say that the MK70, frankly, would stand in any company with regard to both its mechanical specification and its stocking. Plastic wadded cartridges with their expanding skirt seem less prone to such problems than felt, heavy payloads also seem less affected than light ones. I also bought Miroku trap and skeet guns soon after. Muitos canos da browning são feitos na Bélgica e no Japão, e o resto com montagem em Portugal. It just seems common sense that one should make the passage of shot as easy as possible down the bore. You can rely on Miroku guns to shoot consistently and to keep on doing so for years to come. Good wood to metal fit, neat machining, solid build quality - just my sort of shooting iron. I started shooting clays with a mk70 sporter 4 years ago, traded it for a blaser f3 then traded that for a cynergy 30". This gun is far better than its marketing by Browning. The Browning seems to be a bit better when it comes to 'extras' such as an adjustable trigger, but I am not sure about the handling characteristics and any other features. Anschutz-Miroku O/U marked barrel has a 2 3/4 chamber, full/modified chokes, 14 5/8 LOP with cushioned recoil pad. I THINK THESE GUN CANNOT BE BEAT , THEY LEAVE THEM AS THEY ARE NEVER ALTER THE DESIGN , THEY OUT SHOOT MOST OTHER GUNS I HAVE USED, NO MESSING WITH CHOKE TUBES, 10 OUT OF 10 FOR ME . I test a lot of guns each year and I find that many do not come up to standard with regard to point of impact regulation (the usual exceptions are Perazzi, Beretta, Browning/Miroku and Krieghoff). Walnut Stock. All this is very mainstream and sensible. I look at these Mirokus and compare them to some other guns which offer higher margins but which may not, in fact, offer any real-world advantage. The forend is neither slim nor thick. Felt recoil is not quite as low as one might expect for a relatively heavy, back-bored, gun. The engraving lets it down marginally on the aesthetic front - my preference would have been for a plain black action or a bit of scroll, but the market may not share that opinion. I bought my s/h 30" MK70 Gr.1 a year ago. I have had several 12 gauge guns and feel the MK70 is one of the best in shooting terms and the best value for money. I purchased my mk70 game 28" after looking at a lot of guns in the £750-£1500 bracket and i felt it was the best value gun and also so it felt perfect the first time i put it up to the shoulder. stevens, savage arms 4/10 shot gun made in Westfield , Mass model 940E. Forcing cones are short as Browning and Miroku have always preferred. The gun is just a tad barrel heavy marks out Miruku and is a plus which suits me and gives a very positive feel and swing. Returning to the spec of the test gun, this MK38 has a well machined 11mm vented sighting rib with shallow centre channel and mid bead (an acceptable adornment on a trap gun though unnecessary on a sporter). The grip shape is classic Browning and excellent. I have a bee in my bonnet about this. O.K., this is a good, well made gun, and it is offered at a reasonable price, but how does it compare with the opposition? There are a few Cynergys around though. My only criticism barrel-wise, and it is a rare one for this brand, concerns the cutting of the recesses for the cartridge rims. Friends in Spain who shoot live pigeons are absolutely convinced that tighter bores increase penetration (though they may increase felt recoil). Miroku lacked one key to future success: a stand-alone brand. It has a detailed floral engraving, which I much prefer over the Browning game scene. I also liked the comb profile, which is full without being bulbous. looks good and feels strongly made. Thanks for sharing this awesome content here The Miroku MK38 is considered to be one of the best trapguns on the market. Miroku shotguns have always been subject to customisation by owners and to a certain extent these will be no different. But it’s true - many other guns seem expensive compared to the products of B.C. My advice to any body thing of a gun in this price range this is the one to go for. The great thing about it is that is locates the hand comfortably and positively. The mk70 stock design & pistol grip suited me to perfection. 3 June 2009. The original single trigger mechanism was then completed by his son Val (the the single trigger on B25s, Japanese made Brownings and Mirokus is rather different today). There are lumps beneath the barrels rather than the bifurcated plan with trunnion hinging which has become so popular in the last twenty or thirty years. You don't even include an ABS carry case! You could use it for just about anything. O sistema que miroku tem de produção é estilo o da marca Toyota, cada arma é avaliada e revisada uma a uma daí a grande qualidade destas armas mk38, em que são diferentes tanto das 525 e até das 725, eu comparo a uma b25 só que mais barata, Eu tive kemen, perazzi mx8, browning 525,beretta ase 90,682,a arma que mais gosto é a mk38, já ganhei bastante com ela e não troco por nada. My preference is for Miroku (sporter) it is a flatter shooting gun and more barrel heavy which I prefer. The latter would be my preference, however, because they may be combined with the lighter fixed choke type barrels to keep the handling dynamic lively. The details of finish are excellent, though. My only criticism barrel-wise, and it is a rare one for this brand, concerns the cutting of the recesses for the cartridge rims. 10/10. Glad that you are enjoying using the MK70. TAGS: Over-and-under shotguns Shooting Gazette. Although i purchased a MK70 28" last Christmas for my 16 year old son. Without a doubt Miroku guns are reliable and value for money, in fact I can't remember having heard any negative feedback on them. Over the next few years, a relationship developed between the two companies, and an agreement was made for Miroku to manufacture firearms to be marketed under the Browning name. I must be the only one using the B525 Trap. The MK 70 gun examined here is ostensibly a game gun, but might also be used for sporting clays or skeet. Can anyone tell me about a shotgun i own. The barrels bear Belgian proof marks for 2 3/4" (70mm) and 3" (76mm) shells. By 1963 Miroku had also started selling a single barrel shotgun under the Miroku brand. Might be more of a issue for game, but as I use an O/U 20 for game, not a worry to me . A double-barreled gun simply cannot be made at the same low price point as a single barreled repeater. Trigger and ejectors: Excellent trigger-pulls. I particularly like the standard stock having a very thin butt plate as standard. It is always good to have more rather than less. Combine long cones with really wide bore and you can get pressure problems with felt wadded cartridges and some flake powders in really cold conditions. There is no doubting its pointability. It is much heavier than the 7lbs approx. The interchangeable chokes are of the older, shorter style and if I bought the gun I would replace them with extended chokes with knurled extensions for convenience - they are so much easier when it comes to routine cleaning. The B525 and the Miroku are built in Japan under licence to Browning. I once back-bored a 682 Beretta to.740” plus and extended the forcing cones to 2 1.2” or so. Miroku guns are renowned for their consistent quality and value. Solid ribs just do not get as dented as easily in the field - this is especially true of narrow ribs. Workmanship on the barrels is generally good. Similarly, I have found that guns modified to similar spec by US barrel specialists shoot extremely well – felt recoil is lower and the patterns are more even. Miroku also did make USRA's Winchester limited run of 71, 86, 92, 95 rifles, but we are not talking about rifles in this article. The gun is just a tad barrel heavy marks out Miruku and is a plus which suits me and gives a very positive feel and swing. Wood to metal fit is impeccable, the machining is precise, and the blacking lustrous. It has a detailed floral engraving, which I much prefer over the Browning game scene. The barrels on the test gun are built on the monobloc system - as are all modern Miroku and Japanese made Brownings - but the jointing is invisible. I also like the fact that this is a Miruku, a Japanese gun pure and simple which to me gives it added provenance over and above a Japanese made Browning. co. - kochi, japan - .12 guage - 3 inch chambers -28 inch barrels - fixed full/modified chokes - over/under shotgun. In fixed choke, fixed stock, form, it might be customised with Teague thin wall chokes and a little trigger and stock work. The adjustable stock is of typical Miroku trap style. [That said, I still prefer double triggers on a game gun for instant, fumble-free, choke selection - not that double triggers are available on many mass made over & unders these days.] The trigger pulls could be refined, and there is a little vibration on firing. By the way, in Malta sporting is not as popular as much as Trap (DTL and Olympic Trap), with only one range providing a 'fixed' set-up for sporting. Test Bench. Internal and external presentation is impressive as one expects from Miroku. In my time I have owned a Browning B125, a Beretta, a Browning GTI and several others and this one is the best gun yet. There are quite a few guns in this price bracket today, some of them strike me as rather poor value for money when compared to such a solid, well finished, and well proven product like this. It weighs in at about 7 pounds. It is well built I have every confidence it will last for years with little attention. Internal and external presentation is impressive as one expects from Miroku. As is typical of Brownings and Mirokus, the MK38 has quite short (1/2”/15mm approx) forcing cones. Bringing the gun to the shoulder does not dispel the positive first impressions. For those needing length it might easily be shortened. The successful, affordable, American made O/U shotgun does not exist. Originally the Miroku started off as a Japanese copy of the B25 and Browning decided to use the same manufacturer for their B325 – B525s, However Miroku retained a strong brand loyalty and are much in demand. It is a double barrel 12 ga, WesterField, made by miroku , model 325EMJ. It does have a ventilated mid rib with the barrels seemingly a bit lighter than the ones on the Miroku. My own preference is for cones measuring about 2”. This is not just a hunch. I am tall and have my stock built up to 15 3/4 inch so an all wood 14 1/2 starting length means the finished pad is still reasonably proportioned. In all its guises, the MK38 must surely offer the most gun for the least money of anything on sale in the UK at the moment. I know more than a few people who use these guns for high pheasants as well as clay busting. I began my serious shooting life with a 28" double trigger Miroku over and under - it cost me a Victorian and Edwardian stamp collection, now worth tens of thousands, but it also introduced me to a sport that has been my life long passion. Let me sound a word of caution, though. This is most impressive. As he is new to shooting both handling and ease of use were importan,t the MK70 shines through on both counts.I reckon hes put around 2500 cartridges through it up to now without any issues whatsoever ,it performs brilliantly at both skeet and sporting. The company imported some of the better-made shotguns from Europe and Charles Daly was used as the brand name. The MK 70 shot well with quarter and full choke fitted. So, with that serious but well deserved praise given without qualification – let’s get straight to work. Mas vamos ao que é importante e sobre aquilo que conheço que é a browning e a miroku. I am now going to buy an mk38 teague sporter. The gun feels good in the hands. Everything You Need to Know About Miroku Shotguns - YouTube 2.75 Chamber. Action/barrels: First class finish – the engraving is the well-known grade 5 Miroku and the presentation is excellent 19/20. Manufactured in Japan by Miroku Corporation, a company that has been making firearms for over a century, the factory churns out over 100 Citori shotguns per day, with some of the manufacturing process still performed by hand. If I was making guns, 18.6 would be my standard size because I find the wider bored guns seem to kick less. Citori Series: Working Class of Browning Shotguns 20-ga. Citori with adjustable comb. Chequering on the gun was well cut, but not especially fine. Indeed, the B525 is a solid gun. There is no palm swell and the grip is even in depth and provides near perfect purchase. The comparatively recently introduced MK 38 Sport has been making inroads into the Sporting scene and now has the additional benefit of being available with Teague Chokes as well as in the Fixed Choke version. And, of all the Mirokus on offer – and the range is more limited than some manufacturers and probably the better (and cheaper) for it – my favourite is the MK38 32”. If you go down to a B125 (but up in price) these are finished in Belgium but sourced elsewhere. The stock design on this gun is first class. I am also very fond of the Miroku Browning style combined safety and barrel selector - one of the most practical to use. The latter constriction was a bit more than required, but I forgot to bring the other chokes to Braintree for the testing session! The grip and comb shape are near ideal. Miroku did for a limited time sell a version of their 500 double shotgun to Montgomery Wards, which was marketed under the Western Field name. The stock has a concave butt plate - which I prefer to a flat design - and there is a quite prominent toe which may be a little sharp for some users; any ladies buying an MK 70 would be well advised to round it off. Out of the box, our experience with the gun wasn’t very positive, but customized for 3 Gun, the MKA-1919 is said to be a good choice, and a good investment. There you have it, I have thrown journalistic objectivity to the wind from the first sentence! Felt recoil was a bit higher than average (and might have been improved with wider bores in my opinion). Muzzle control, however, was very good thanks to the excellent grip shapes. I did not measure the drop or cast (of which there was little) on the gun. BAD POINTS: Why oh why do they not even offer an ABS carry case with this fine gun, even at grade 5 - see what I said about marketing! The MK38 32" for example is one of the best competition guns on the market regardless of cost and has been chosen by many top competitors. First Impressions, The test gun looks smart with its neatly engraved silver action, although the engraving is a little thinner than my preference - and I am not quite sure about the US style game scenes with pointers. I am much impressed with the MK 38 both with regard to its aesthetic and shooting qualities. Friends of mine were quite (negatively I must say) surprised when I told them of my purchase (still have a B. Rizzini which I used for 10 years beforehand). This is something else that I must test experimentally one day. It is an enduring classic and, despite its full width hinge pin and bolt still looks quite compact. Boa tarde, com toda a atenção sigo o vosso fórum, já há muito tempo e reparo que existem comentadores que defendem determinadas marcas, não sei se é puro marketing ou outra coisa qualquer. A useful weight - not too light or heavy - which means it could be put to just about any shooting use. NB Miroku - shape up your gun is better than your marketing. Browning UK did some experiments a decade or more ago and came to the conclusion that elongated cones were no great advantage. ... Miroku MK70 shotgun review. The only reason I changed it was because I found it recoiled quite sharply (not overbored) after 150 clays or so. The grip shape is in great part a function of the action body design – a point some manufacturers seem to forget (they think the narrower the better – this is not always the case and may lead to a grip which shrinks forward and provides no anchor for the hand without an ugly and often inefficient palm swell). It is amazing how many poor grips one encounters. Top of the range is the B25s which are Belgium 100%. This is a tough, well-made, gun. This month’s test gun is a fine example of this puzzle; the Miroku MK60 is a gun based on an action first produced in 1925 and which frankly has hardly changed at all since. Can anyone tell me about a shot gun I own ? I know this combination works. The Miroku is a modification of the B25 without the attached forend of the latter gun and there are certain subtle mechanical differences too (the trigger for example has changed significantly over the years). The MSRP is $799 and the street price is slightly under that. The action of MK70 is the usual John Moses inspired Japanese version of the Superposed. I should have had a recoil pad fitted & bought some decent chokes. But, this is a superb shooting tool and fantastic value for money. First impressions of the test gun, a trap model with adjustable comb as noted, fixed chokes and a Beaver-tail forend, are certainly positive. The bores are quite tight too at 18.4mm top and bottom. The gun blue is deep unlike some of the "look at me and I'll scratch" finishes you can now find. The action of the MK38 is the usual Miroku modification of the famous Browning B25 Superposed design. Trap is much more popular, with three competition-level ranges and a number of others around the Islands incluing Gozo. The MK70 cuts the mustard in all departments, though. Like the B25, there is a full width hinge pin and a wide, flat, bolt that comes out at the bottom of the breech face to mate with the equally wide slot bite beneath the bottom chamber mouth. Browning have always claimed this as an advantage over the more recent systems. Chokes are three quarters and full. Spending more money doesnt guarentee a better gun, expensive lesson learnt. The action is matt silver finished and looks good, but, it would also work well aesthetically colour case hardened (although this has rarely, if ever, featured as a Miroku option). It is hard to recommend a gun that isn’t always reliable out of the box, but the story on this gun isn’t that simple. You can take back bored and cone elongation too far.
